Volunteers wanted for the Food Pod Scheme
Our Housing team are currently recruiting volunteers for the newly established Food Pod in Penarth.
The scheme offers residents tinned and perishable goods, toiletries and hygiene products on a pay-as you-feel basis. The aim is to tackle food waste and support local communities that have faced major challenges during the pandemic.
The pod is located in the St Luke’s Estate and works in partnership with other volunteers from Helping Hands and the STAR Residents Association.
It is open on Mondays and Fridays between 2pm and 4pm.
Positively raising the profile of the work of the food pod and the Clean Slate Connected, Cleaner Greener & Healthier Neighbourhood Programme.
Role requirements:

Assisting those shopping at the Food Pod.

Taking delivery of food donations.

Stacking shelves, fridges and freezers.

Maintaining stock and records.
-
Working as part of a team.

Driving to collect donations when required (not essential).
Volunteers also have the opportunity to gain the Level Two Food Safety qualification free of charge.
You must be able to commit one day per week, either Monday or Friday, from 1-3pm. There's a minimum 12 month commitment and you will be required to undertake general volunteer induction training and ongoing training and development.
Volunteers will be able to access to Timebanking credits.
