24 staff members who care for residents at Cartref Portherci have now been vaccinated, some had previously received the vaccination at the mass vaccination centre in Splott.
One staff member shared how emotional they became reaching such a significant milestone.
Marijke Jenkins, Operational Manager for Residential Services, said: “I’m thrilled to see staff and residents receiving the COVID-19 vaccine together. The past 10 months have been so challenging for all of us and it’s great to finally have some really positive action to help our residents.”
Staff have worked tirelessly over the past 10 months to protect our most vulnerable residents. Whilst this is a key landmark in our battle against Coronavirus, we must remain vigilant.
All of our frontline staff, including those who have been vaccinated, should continue to follow the guidelines for keeping themselves and others safe by regularly washing or sanitizing their hands, wearing the required PPE and maintaining a social distance wherever possible.
The roll out of the vaccine to social care staff members and residents will continue over the coming weeks, with the aim of vaccinating all health and social care staff by the end of the month.
