If you have symptoms of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), however mild, you will need to notify your Manager and self-isolate at home for:

  • 7 days - Your household members that have not had symptoms previously will need to isolate for 14 days.

If you are not displaying symptoms but living with a person displaying symptoms / diagnosed, notify Manager and self-isolate at home for:

  • 14 days

If you subsequently develop symptoms, you will need to self-isolate for 7 days irrespective of where you are in the 14-day household isolation.

The diagram below is an example of self isolation in a four person household.

Coronavirus - Summary of action to be taken by Employees / Managers

Prior to all self-isolation decisions, staff must contact their line manager before the start of their work period / shift to agree the self-isolation arrangements. Employees who are required to self-isolate will be asked to work from home and provided with work to do if this is appropriate/practical to the role undertaken.

This will not be regarded as a period of sickness. They will receive full pay during this isolation period and it will not count towards any ‘triggers’ under the Management of Attendance Procedure.

Symptoms

  • stay at least 2 metres (about 3 steps) away from other people in your home whenever possible.

  • sleep alone, if that is possible.

  • wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, each time using soap and water.

  • stay away from vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions as much as possible.

  • you do not need to call NHS111 to go into self-isolation. If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after 7 days contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999.
