An exciting year ahead for Project Zero

An exciting year ahead for Project Zero!
Together, through Project Zero, we are making real strides towards reducing our carbon emissions to net zero by 2030, and this year promises to be packed with opportunities for us all to contribute.
Here's a quick look at some of the key initiatives we’ll be working on in 2025:
New Staffnet portal: This year, we’ll be launching a new Project Zero section on Staffnet, making it easier for you to access the most relevant information about Project Zero for your role in the Council.
Solar power expansion: We will be installing even more solar panels on Council buildings, increasing our renewable energy capability.
Greener fleet: We will increase the number of electric vehicles in our fleet, helping to cut carbon emissions and support greener travel.
Collaborating with schools: We will be working closely with schools across the Vale to help them reduce their energy use and promote sustainable practices, including through the launch of a new eco-directory for schools.
Project Zero hub: We will continue to update the Project Zero Hub with examples of work from across the organisation and community and ways in which more people can get involved. Keep an eye out for updates!
Nature and biodiversity: We will continue work to support nature and biodiversity, with ongoing projects like Restore the Thaw and a new initiative at Porthkerry Country Park aimed at improving woodland management, biodiversity, and access to green spaces.
Sustainable staff rewards: We will continue offering staff incentives and opportunities to make greener choices through My Vale Rewards, such as the Cycle to Work scheme.
We want to hear from you in 2025!
Whether you have ideas for internal changes, are already working on something that aligns with Project Zero, or have seen something inspiring happening in the community, we want to hear about it.
