Calling all Vale Council Departmental Managers – QuickStart
CELT+ and Communities for Work Plus are looking to host their fifth QuickStart scheme this spring!
The initiative will provide up to ten paid job placements for 18-30 year olds based in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The aim is to provide young people with essential employment skills to enhance their future employment prospects.
Could you:
- Offer a Vale-based 18-30-year-old the opportunity to work within your Council department. (Please note, the job must be a new vacancy and must not replaceexisting or planned vacancies; and/or cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose work or reduce their working hours)
- Employ for six months (initially funded via QuickStart for the first 6 months) before looking to offer more sustainable employment for the QuickStart candidate upon successful completion of their placement (if the employed candidate satisfies the department's probationary requirements)
If YES, then funding would be made available to:
- Fully fund a 25 hours per week, six-month placement at National Minimum Wage for the 6-month duration
- Provide up to £500 per candidate for training/resources
- Offer Pre-employment Employability Skills training to potential candidates via the CELT+ & Communities for Work Plus programme in partnership with Adult Community Learning
QuickStart scheme time scales for consideration:
- Expression of Interest opens Monday 17th of February and closes on the 23rd of February 2025
- Ten job vacancies are advertised from Monday 3rd March 2025
- Interested candidates to submit their interest for vacancy consideration to the QuickStart Coordinator (in the first instance) by no later than Sunday 9th March 2025
- Pre-employment workshops (CV / Interview skills) to be offered to potential candidates on Thursday 13th March and final CV’s to be sent in by Sunday 16th March 2025
- Interviews are to be set by individual departments upon receipt of CVs, week commencing 24th March and candidate to be in post by end of April 2025 due to funding
If interested, please complete the expression of interest form for the vacancy to be considered.
On receipt of the EOI, the QuickStart Co-ordinator will be in touch to confirm the placement and provide further details and terms and conditions.
