The Council Celebrates Placing in Stonewall's Top 100!
Members from GLAM gathered with directors and the Leader to celebrate this achievement in August
Stonewall, Europe’s largest charity for LGBTQ+ rights, released their annual Top 100 Leading Inclusive Employers earlier this Summer. The Vale of Glamorgan Council made it on the list, and was one of only two Councils in Wales to appear!
The event aimed to highlight our achievement as a Council, and to look forward as to how we can improve and reach higher on the index. Attendees were presented with a buffet lunch while they caught-up with each other.
Also in attendance was Lisa Power, Stonewall's co-founder. Lisa shared a few words on what this achievement and hard work means for the council.
"You affect so many people's lives in the Vale of Glamorgan. You really impact on a lot of key things that help shape people, and help people understand the importance of diversity."
The Chief Executive also had a few words to share on why being in the top 100 matters for the Vale of Glamorgan.
"It matters because it aligns really closely with our values as an organisation. It matters for our staff and it for our communities as well, ...[and] above all because everybody should have the ability and cofidence to be able to come to work to an organisation where everyone feels valued."
