National Safeguarding Week 2024
11 – 15th November is National Safeguarding Week in Wales

A range of events are being held as part of National Safeguarding Week which colleagues might be interested in attending.
National Safeguarding Week is a week-long campaign in Wales that aims to raise awareness and provide training on safeguarding issues.
Safeguarding involves protecting children and adults from abuse, neglect, and other harm, and preventing them from becoming at risk.
The core theme for 2024 is "Working in Partnership”, which encourages us to share our knowledge of safeguarding, learn from others and ultimately create safer cultures.
Across the week, the Cardiff and Vale Safeguarding Board are hosting a variety of activities aimed at a range of audiences, including professionals, children and young people, parents and carers, and the wider community.

How to safeguard your volunteers
- Date & Time: Thursday 14th November, 10:30 – 11:30
- Location: Online (webinar)
- What to expect? The webinar will be run by Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and will talk about how and what an organisation can do to ensure their volunteers are kept safe at all stages of volunteering.
Let’s Talk PANTS Information Session
- Date & Time: Wednesday 13th November, 15:30 – 16:30
- Location: Online (Microsoft Teams)
- What to expect? Facilitated by Rhys Beaven from NSPCC Cymru, The Talk PANTS Campaign is designed to help children understand that their body belongs to them and to empower them to speak up about anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. This session aims to educate professionals and community members on how to effectively communicate these important messages to children.
CVSB Safeguarding Conference
- Date & Time: Friday 15th November, 09:00 – 16:00
- Location: The Village Hotel, Cardiff, CF14 7EF
- What to expect? Run by the Cardiff and Vale Safeguarding Board, the day will involve a number of presentations delivered by key speakers covering the theme of child and adult neglect, as well as interactive workshops in the afternoon.
In addition to these events, there are many other activities being hosted both online and in-person throughout the week, covering important safeguarding topics.
