Could your service benefit from using Dewis Cymru?
Dewis is a one stop shop for reliable and up to date Health and Wellbeing Advice and Information.
Dewis Cymru has been developed to help people find information about organisations and services that can help them take control of their own wellbeing.
It’s useful for people like Social Workers, Wellbeing Officers, GPs, Librarians, Schools and lots of local organisations who offer information to the public as part of their work - like us!
The Vale Dewis team are relaunching the service, and will be visiting teams across the organisation that may benefit from using Dewis and /or using it to advertise their service. While talking through its uses and benefits, the team also want feedback on the service and ideas for how it could be developed further.
Every resource needs to be reviewed at least every 6 months, otherwise it expires and is no longer ‘live’, and regulated Services need to be approved by the Care Inspectorate Wales before they can be published on Dewis.
It avoids different people and departments having their own lists of services or directories that they signpost people to, which may be out of date, and it also ensures people are given the same access to the same information.
Services can be searched for by Key Word, Category or by Outcomes. This makes the search suitable for people who know exactly what service they are looking for, and also for those who might not know what they are looking for but might know what Wellbeing outcome they would like to achieve, e.g – a Search for services with the outcome ‘Being Active’ or ‘Making Friends’.
Services can also be searched for by location, including a Local Authority Search and a Post Code search. This helps when you are signposting someone else to services as the search can be tailored by proximity to them.
If the service also has a physical address that can be visited (not just a postal address) then the search results will also display Google directions to the services, by car, foot or public transport.
