Countering Extremist Narratives Training Sessions with the Community Safety Team

Our Community Safety Team are working with Small Steps to provide training on countering extremist narratives.

Delivered in two sessions, this project looks to develop a holistic training package that will help attendees assist individuals who are susceptible to extremist narratives. It will include specific research and raise awareness of local issues, specifically around the ERW and online risks.

Part 1: In-person Sessions

**Choose only one day to attend the virtual session and one date to attend the in person session

Workshops objectives

  • Increase understanding of ERW extremism including groups operating,recruitment techniques , ERW manipulation of the online space and provide strong counter-narratives to extremist arguments
  • Support attendees to have difficult conversations with people susceptible to extremism and show how people can find out people’s concerns, offer alternatives and help people leave extremism
  • Increase understanding and confidence in why and how people should report concerns to safeguard people away from the dangers of extremism and where to get support i.e., Prevent and ACT Early
  • Promote partnership working, so local resilience can be developed and enhanced
  • Highlight potential funding to help develop local resilience and projects.
