Staff invited to mark anniversary of war in Ukraine
Staff are invited to join Council Leader Lis Burnett, Vale of Glamorgan Mayor Susan Lloyd-Selby and people around the UK to mark one year since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
A minute’s silence to note the anniversary is taking place at 11am on Friday (February 24) across the Country
It offers the chance to reflect on the lives that have been lost during that conflict, pay tribute to the Ukrainian people and demonstrate support for their cause.
The Council will observe this occasion outside the front entrance to the Civic Offices.
Cllr Burnett said: “The war in Ukraine has shocked the world as we watch on in horror at the unjust and needless conflict that continues to rage.
“Here in the Vale, we pride ourselves on values such as tolerance, acceptance and compassion and our thoughts remain firmly with the Ukrainian people.
“To demonstrate that solidarity, I would ask staff to join us outside the Civic Offices on Friday to consider the impact of the war, the damage it has done and reaffirm our absolute opposition to it.”
