Carers Rights Day – 24 November 2022

Carers Rights Day 2022 takes place on 24 November. It is a day which helps raise awareness of the need for carers as well as highlighting the amazing work that they do.

The purpose of the day is also to help ensure that unpaid carers are aware of their rights and aware of where and how to access support.

To mark the day, we’re holding a drop-in session for unpaid carers in the Manual Handling Training Room in Unit 5, Business Service Centre, Hood Road, CF62 5QN on Thursday 24 November between 10am and 2pm.

We will have a wide range of equipment available for carers to see and test which assist with tasks like helping in and out of a chair, moving on the bed, in and out of a car and dealing with falls. The event is open who wish to all to attend.

Carers Rights Day is also an opportunity to remind staff of the support available if they are caring for a friend or family member.

If this involves assisting a person to move and you would like to know what help or equipment might be available or to learn techniques that might make tasks easier, a one-to-one session with Elspeth Cameron can be arranged.

This will also take place in the Manual Handling Training Room so there is an opportunity to see the equipment and guidance can be given on how to access further support if appropriate.  This appointment can take place during working hours with the agreement of line management.

Further information on the Carers Policy and support available can be found on Staffnet.
