Your chance to shape the first ever National Safeguarding Training Standards
Your chance to shape the first ever National Safeguarding Training Standards
19 April 2022

Consultation is now underway on Wales’ first ever National Safeguarding Training Standards.
Developed in line with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, the draft standards have been designed to help make sure everyone in Wales who needs it gets consistent and high-quality safeguarding training. Specifically, the project will ensure that:
- organisations incorporate the standards for practitioners into their safeguarding policies and procedures
- practitioners understand their responsibilities relevant to the group they’re in and how to follow the relevant policies and procedures
- practitioners have access to and comply with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
The purpose of the National Safeguarding Standards is to make sure that everyone in Wales gets consistent and good quality training that’s relevant to their role and responsibilities, and that we, as practitioners, can safeguard people to the best of our ability.
To ensure they are fit for purpose we need to hear from as wide a range of practitioners and organisations as possible and would urge anyone with an interest to respond to the consultation.
A draft National Safeguarding Training Standards document has now been published for consultation. You can read the draft document on the Social Care Wales website.
You can then have your say on the draft by:
• completing the online survey
• completing the consultation document and emailing it to consultations@socialcare.wales
