Week three of Miles For Ukraine

Ukraine - SN Banner

Three weeks into Miles for Ukraine, and we have surpassed our target on our virtual journey to Ukraine!

As we approach the halfway mark of our campaign, lets begin our journey back to Barry!

As of today, we have collectively travelled 2,000.89 miles on our virtual journey to Ukraine.

Your donations and fundraising efforts have so far raised £1,479 for the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Alongside our fundraising efforts, there is ongoing work in the Council to support Ukrainian refugees. Mike Ingram and Tom Dodsworth have been working with colleagues and Welsh Government to meet the needs of arriving refugees.

Mike and Tom work with their colleagues to ensure that refugees are greeted and assessed on arrival, offered practical and psychological support, and are housed in a suitable environment.

Reaching our target

Jonathan Green, from Regeneration and Planning has so far completed a total of 378.1 miles on his bike and took us over our target of 1,775 miles this week. Well done Jonathan!

We spoke to Jonathan about his achievement: “Fantastic training miles through the sunny but chilly Vale on Sunday morning with stunning views over the Bristol Channel. It’s great to be supporting the ‘Miles for Ukraine’ challenge as part of my preparation for London-Edinburgh-London later in the year.  Next target is to get us back to the Vale….”

Anyone can take part in helping us to complete our virtual journey, whether you complete your journey on your own, with your team, or as part of a school in the Vale of Glamorgan.
