Wales welcomes its first National HIV Testing Week
Fast Track Cardiff & Vale are leading a trail blazing campaign to raise awareness of HIV testing and encourage more people to take up regular testing to protect themselves and others from the virus.
17 May, 2021
The aim of the week is to break down the stigma that prevents people from testing and show how easy it is to get tested.
National HIV Testing Week supports the Welsh Government’s pledge to eliminate new cases of HIV by 2030.
It directs people to the national free postal testing service run by Frisky Wales.
Gian Molinu, Chair of Fast Track Cardiff & Vale, said; "People in Wales need to hear that HIV has changed completely since the 80’s.
"Treatment is now so good that you can not only live a full life but it will stop you from passing the virus on. But to get vital treatment you have to get tested.
"We wanted to deliver a uniquely Welsh Testing Week focussing on the need to improve HIV testing figures here in Wales.
The event runs from 14-21 May and is open for anyone to join in and promote HIV testing.
Details on how to join in, including free posters and other materials, are available at:
