National Bike Week

Sunday 30 May - Saturday 05 June 2021

Delivered each year by Cycling UK, Bike Week encourages quarter of a million people to join in events, rethink their everyday journeys and switch to cycling as the most convenient way to get around.

Health and Wellbeing has been a focus for us as an organisation, particularly in the last year, as we have all adapted to a new way of living.

Cycling has many health and wellbeing benefits as well as being friendlier for the environment. As an organisation we actively encourage cycling, with the Active Travel networks being developed throughout the Vale. And a pledge to reduce our carbon emissions to net zero carbon by 2030, through Project Zero.

According to Cycling UK, if you cycle regularly in adulthood, you will enjoy a level of fitness equivalent to someone 10 years younger.

Why not head out for a bike ride this week and get involved with Bike Week?

Man-fixing-a-bikeDr Bike Drop-in Sessions

Dr Bike will be holding two sessions in the Vale on Wednesday 02 June 2021:

  • Cosmeston Lakes Country Park, 10.00am - 1.00pm

  • Barry Island, 2.00pm - 5.00pm

There will be two mechanics available providing a safety check with some minor repairs on bicycles.  All are welcome to take their bicycles down for a health check. This is open to all members of the public so I would suggest getting there as early as possible to make sure you can get your bike checked.
