EU citizens have until 30 June to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme

As per the UK Government's Brexit deal, EU citizens and their families need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) by 30 June 2021 in order to keep living and working in the UK.

01 June 2021

The Office for National Statistics estimates that approximately 3,000 EU citizens reside in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The most recent Home Office data suggests that a total of 1,870 applications to the EUSS had been made up to March 2021 for those residing in the Vale of Glamorgan.

This suggest that whilst just over half of eligible EU citizens have applied for settled status, there are still a number yet to apply.

The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted upon our ability to support citizens with the application process. Prior to the pandemic a document scanning service was available through a number of local authorities in South Wales. The Citizen's Advice Bureau are, however, equipped to assist and can provide advice on how to apply to the scheme.
