Bi Visibility Day

Each year, Bi Visibility Day raises awareness about bisexual people and challenges bisexual and biromantic erasure.

Why is Bi Visbility Day important?

The needs and experiences of bisexual people often don't receive as much consideration as other members of the LGBTQ+ community. They often feel invisible.

There are also some negative stereotypes such as bi people being greedy, indecisive or incapable of monogamy. The way bi people are perceived can negatively impact their lives, making it difficult for them to be themselves around family, friends and the wider community.

They often experience higher levels of anxiety and lower levels of happiness and satisfaction in life than gay, lesbian and straight people.

To help combat this, it is important that we make bi people feel supported, reassured and accepted.

What can you do?

Educate yourself on the experiences of bisexual people and the unique challenges that they face. Join in celebrating diverse identities, supporting the voices of bi people and calling for positive change.

Refer to resources on the Stonewall website. Each year, Stonewall recognises role models in the LGBTQ+ community, this year, Charles Wild has been named Bi Role Model Of The Year.

There will be a Bi Cymru open allies meeting in Wales. The event is open to all and will be an opportunity to discuss visibility, community definitions and being an ally to the bi community. It is a free event, but you'll need to book.
