The Managing Director has written to all staff to stress the importance of taking time out of your day to do something to support your health and wellbeing. The message reads as follows.
Dear Colleagues,
I have regularly mentioned the importance of staff wellbeing in my recent weekly messages. For the past eight months we have all worked through extraordinary circumstances that have brought about many challenges. The world in which we work as an organisation and as individuals has changed dramatically. As a Strategic Leadership Team we have been very conscious of our staff’s health and wellbeing throughout this difficult period.
It is with that in mind that a project group was formed which brought together colleagues from Human Resources and Organisational Development Department, our Healthy Living team and our wellbeing champions. This group have been working in partnership over recent weeks to develop and deliver a range of activities to support staff wellbeing entitled ‘Your Wellbeing / Eich Iechyd’
I’m really pleased to write to you today to announce that the ‘Your Wellbeing / Eich Iechyd’ activities will be launching from next week, with an initial focus on physical wellbeing. A range of physical activities will be available, including live instructor led HIIT and Yoga sessions. These sessions will be accessible at a range of times, to suit you and will be offered free of charge to all staff.
I would like to make it clear that I am giving all staff permission to undertake activities to support their wellbeing on a weekly basis during work time. I would, in fact, encourage you all to regularly take some time to do this.
As the programme develops there will also be opportunities offered to support other aspects of your wellbeing, such as mental health, awareness of a healthy and balanced diet and financial advice and guidance, to name a few.
To access the advice and guidance please visit the ‘Your Wellbeing / Eich Iechyd’ section on Staffnet+ and see the Physical Activity page to book one of the sessions.
The yoga and HIIT sessions should be booked through iDev. If you have any problems accessing iDev to book a session please contact the Organisational Development team.
If you would like to access this on a personal device you can do so, Staffnet+ is a staff section of the Council’s external website so you don’t need to be on a Council network or device to access it. Simply type www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/staffnetplus in to your internet browser and you will find the homepage, which has links to latest staff news, information on coronavirus and the wellbeing section.
Please take time to look at these pages. The team will be seeking feedback to ensure that we can shape and develop the programme over the coming months. I am looking forward to taking part in some of these activities and receiving your feedback and ideas on other things we could do in the future. I will continue to keep you updated on the programme as it develops.
Thank you all, as always. Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi i gyd.
Take care.
Rob
