New Remote Access Arrangements
Information for staff to set up an RSA token and access the secure network from home
To ensure that we are able to maintain business continuity, especially for key services, while also eliminating the need for all but the most essential travel, a new process for remote ICT access is now being rolled out to office-based staff.
This will enable all staff to work from home and address the issue many were having with access via the Auto-VPN system.
The new system enables staff to login to the Council’s ICT network by using a code generated by an app on either their corporate or personal mobile phone.
From Monday 30 March staff will be sent instructions to enable them to login to the Council’s ICT network by using a code generated by an RSA app on their mobile phone.
Your operational or team manager should have been in touch to gather the information needed for the rollout:
-
Your mobile phone number
-
Your personal email address
-
The HID number for your pc or laptop
-
If you have a corporate mobile device with the RSA app installed on your device
-
If your personal mobile phone is an apple or android device (if you don't have a work phone)
All of this information is essential for the rollout process so please ensure the information is correct and returned to your OM/ Manager promptly.
Below you will find written instructions and instructional videos to help you install the RSA app on your mobile device and connect to the secure network.
Please note you will not be able to do this until IT have sent you an email with an attachment and a password to access the RSA app. This is being rolled out to teams from Monday 30 March, your OM will be informed when all of the emails have been sent to your team.
How to set up an RSA app and connect to the network
Once set up please use your F5 Remote Access token as your means of connection. Please disconnect your Aruba from the network or just power the Aruba off. If it remains on the network, you risk slowing your connection speed or getting errors on your RSA connection.
If you have any issues setting up the RSA app or connecting to the network please contact your manager in the first instance. If your manager is unable to help you then there will be a team of IT and OD officers on hand to assist.
