Taxi Licensing: Operators

Anyone who wishes to run a business operating Private Hire vehicles must first apply for, and be granted, a Private Hire Operator's licence.

With effect from 01 December 2016 provisions within the Immigration Act 2016 requires Licensing Authorities to carry out a check that all applicants have the right to live and work in the UK.

Application Process

  • Before applying for a licence you should contact the Licensing to discuss the Private Hire Operator Conditions
  • Contact the Planning Department to check whether you will need to obtain planning permission for the business.

  •  DBS  check (the check will need to be carried out on a 3-yearly basis).
  • If the operator is a Ltd company you must produce a current list of directors from Companies House and each director must produce a standard disclosure.

 

Once an application has been made you will be issued with Vale of Glamorgan Council Driver and Vehicle record books.
